Why I built ClearlyFair

Hi, I'm Jason. ClearlyFair comes from my own family.

When I was young, my mom was sick a lot. She was in and out of the hospital for years, and it was expensive in a way that is hard to explain unless you have lived it. At one point we had to sell our house just to pay the hospital bills. I was a kid. I am sure there were options we never knew about, ways to push back or get help, but back then there was very little out there, and almost no technology to point you in the right direction. You just paid, or you drowned trying.

It did not stop there. My mom was in and out of the hospital well into my adult years. Later my dad had a stroke, and then complications from it. That meant more than medical bills. It meant insurance costs, making the house wheelchair accessible, and arranging nurses and other support. My brother, cycling across the country, was hit by a drunk driver who was uninsured at the time, and he had to deal with the fallout. I have had my own health issues as an adult too.

So this is not an abstract problem to me. Medical bills have followed my family my whole life.

What I keep coming back to is this: it is a lot of money, and it is the hardest kind to part with, because it shows up when you are already dealing with something painful. Most people never push back, not because they do not care, but because no one tells them they can, or shows them how.

That is why I built ClearlyFair. I wanted to make the kind of help we never had. Something that takes your situation and turns it into a clear, well-organized letter to the billing department, using the same strategies people who know the system actually use. You stay in control, and you send it yourself.

I cannot promise it will lower your bill. No one honestly can, and you should be careful of anyone who says otherwise. What I can tell you is that asking, the right way, is almost always better than staying silent and paying a number you were handed. I wish my family had known that sooner.

If medical bills are weighing on you right now, I hope this helps.
